Hello! My name is Ashley Stone and I am soon to be a third-year BFA Dance major! Now that I attend Zoom University, I have had a lot more free time to do things I’ve always wanted to do, but also things I never thought I would have to do!
At the beginning of quarantine, my roommate (fellow dance major Lindsay Ball) and I were assigned a project for our dance history class all about contact improvisation. We had to create a presentation about the dance form. We decided to get creative with it and include fun pictures of us partnering each other. We got a lot of positive feedback and were able to make people laugh with it.
I never thought I would have to take a ballet class in my living room, but ya know these are weird times... so it happened. Because I’m now dancing in my living room, I discovered that I have multiple of my dog's tennis balls under my couch. Now, we may not enjoy living our lives solely in our homes, but my dog Ivy sure does! She likes to sneak in my zoom calls and demand me to pay attention to her over my classes. Also, I was getting low on dog fun and had to make multiple calls to various stores trying to find more food for her.
In my downtime, I’ve enjoyed dancing in cool places and doing new crafts. I have watercolor pencils and needlework activities that get me through the day. I’m excited for this all to end so I can get back in a studio with all my friends.
